After court rap, Telangana govt gives notional service and equal pay to Model School teachers

Hyderabad: The Education Department on Tuesday issued orders granting notional service and equal pay to 1,326 teachers working in 194 Model Schools across the State.
The issue stemmed from the Model School teacher recruitment notification released by the department in 2012. Appointments were made in phases, with some in 2013 and others in 2014. Although all teachers were recruited through the same notification, the staggered recruitment led to pay disparities and service-related issues among teachers.
Given the issue, some teachers appointed in 2014 approached the court seeking notional service benefits. After examining the case, the court ruled that they were eligible for notional benefits and ordered their implementation starting from April 1, 2025.
The related file was pending approval from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, which resulted in contempt of court. With the court setting December 4 as the deadline to complete the process, the Chief Minister recently gave his approval.
Telangana Model School Teachers Association president Bhutham Yakamallu, general secretary Kontha Nagesh, and Progressive Model School Teachers Association of Telangana president Tarala Jagadish expressed their happiness over the release of the long pending order.
