Hyderabad: Is the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) creating a D group in the three-day A-1 Division cricket league to fit in Union Bank? That has been talked about in cricket circles after a writ petition was filed by the association in the Telangana High Court seeking vacation of the court order in the Union Bank-HCA case.

While offering an unconditional apology for not complying with the court order, HCA secretary R Vijayanand said in the petition that Union Bank would be included in the Group D, which as of now does not exist.

This has raised eyebrows as this year’s delayed HCA A-1 three-day league has only three groups for the premier league and three rounds were completed so far. Tuesday’s court order had stopped the fourth round matches on the second day of the three-day matches on Wednesday.

Former secretary T Shesh Narayan took objection to Vijayanand’s petition saying that HCA was misleading the court. “We have only three groups where does the D group come from,’’? asked Shesh Narayan.

However, when contacted, Vijayanand said the Union Bank will be adjusted in either Group A or B contradicting his statement in the petition submiited to the High Court. “We will decide on this issue in a day or two,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, in a separate letter to the president of Union Bank/erstwhile Andhra Bank, the secretary has again asked for the list of employees with their employment numbers and designations for registration of players. It also asked the players to have the necessary Covid-19 tests done and report to the association with the latest reports.

“Your matches will start from the following week after the fulfillment of the requisites and we ensure that all 11 matches will be played, subject to outcome of both the writ petitions,’’ he said.
