Hyderabad: Not deterred by the massive protests against his attempts at land acquisition for his pharma village dream, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has now set his eyes on acquiring another 30,000 acres to “develop” another dream project of his, the Future City.

Speaking at the MAUD Vijayotsavalu here on Monday, Revanth Reddy said at present, about 15,000 acres was available for the Future City at Mucherla, Begarikancha and neighbouring places. In addition to these, 15,000 acres of forest land was available and if farmers support and offer an additional 15,000 acres, an “amazing city” could be built in 40,000 to 50,000 acres, he said.

“We are planning to develop the Future City to compete with New York, Tokyo and Singapore,” he said, also claiming that the real estate sector in the State had not collapsed but had registered a 29 per cent growth in permissions issued between April 1, 2023 to November, 30, 2023 and April 1, 2024 to November 30, 2024.

He also claimed that HYDRAA was only clearing encroachments in lakes and water bodies and not demolishing structures which had permissions.

Coming down heavily on union Minister G Kishan Reddy for opposing the Musi Riverfront project, the Chief Minister said Rs.35,000 crore was required for the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project and Rs.15,000 crore to develop radial roads between Outer Ring Road (ORR) and RRR. This apart, Rs.7000 crore was required for diverting River Godavari water into Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs and Rs.35,000 crore for developing Metro Rail covering 76 km.

“If Kishan Reddy gets Rs.1.5 lakh crore from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Hyderabad’s development, a grand felicitation programme will be arranged for the duo at Parade Grounds with 10 lakh people,” he said, claiming that even if Kishan Reddy died by suicide in River Musi, people would not bother. The union Minister should get Rs.25,000 crore for the Musi project and Rs.10,000 crore under PMAY for constructing houses for Musi oustees, he said.

Cabinet sub-committee for Hyderabad development

Revanth Reddy also announced a Cabinet Sub-Committee for Hyderabad’s development. It would be chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka while IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar would be Members. Apart from intellectuals and experts, BRS and BJP should submit their policy documents for Hyderabad’s development to the committee, he said.
