After worm-infested food, students now get expired medicines in Mahabubabad
In a medical camp organised by the Health Department at the Social Welfare boys' hostel student noticed that expired medicines are been given to the student to cure ailments.
Mahabubabad: In yet another case of official negligence, expired medicines were allegedly given to students of the Social Welfare Boys’ Hostel, Cherlapalem in Thorrur mandal during a medical camp on Friday.
According to reports, a medical camp was organised by the Health Department at the Social Welfare boys’ hostel and after conducting medical examinations, a few students were given medicines for different ailments. However, the students noticed that some of the medicines given to them were past the expiry date. They immediately informed the school authorities, who asked the students not to consume those medicines. The school authorities have reportedly informed the matter to higher officials.
At a time when food poisoning incidents are occurring in a large number of residential schools across the State, the incident of providing expired medicines by the health staff, has triggered concerns among the students of social welfare residential schools.
