Hyderabad: Even as the educational institutions struggle to complete the academic year 2020-21 due to the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced the calendar for the academic year 2021-22 for all technical institutions.
According to the schedule, the AICTE will grant its approvals to technical institutions for 2021-22 by June 30 while the universities/boards should grant affiliation to them by July 15. These institutions were asked to complete the first round of counselling for allotment of seats by August 31 and the second round by September 9. The last date for cancellation of seats with a full fee refund is September 10. Students can be admitted into first-year technical courses against the vacancies up to September 15 while the class work will commence on September 15. Institutions have been warned with punitive action if they admit students without prior approvals.
As per the schedule, classes for the existing students of all technical courses will commence from September 1. The last date for lateral entry admission into second-year courses for newly admitted students is September 20.
Likewise, the AICTE will grant its approval to standalone PGDM/PGCM institutions by June 30. The classes for existing and new students in these institutions will commence from July 1, and the last date for cancellation of admission in PGDM/PGCM programmes with full fee refund is July 5. The admissions can be done up to July 10.
The institutions offering ODL/online programmes will be granted approvals by June 30, and the last date for first and second session admissions is September 1 and February 1, 2022, respectively.
Though the AICTE issued a calendar for the academic year 2021-22, it said the calendar may change subject to the conditions due to the pandemic and the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Home and Ministry of Education, from time to time.
The AICTE instructed all its institutions to follow the guidelines of the AICTE/UGC on examinations issued from time to time in view of the pandemic. The institutions may start classes in online/offline (classroom) or blended model (online and offline) following the prescribed safety protocols related to the pandemic, it said.
