Hyderabad: Asian Institute of Gastroenterology founder and chairman Dr. D Nageshwar Reddy has become the first Indian clinician scientist to be selected for the Distinguished Educator award by the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), which was founded in 1897 and has more than 16,000 members around the globe.
“Since the inception of the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology, we have trained over 1,000 gastroenterologists from across the world in advanced endoscopy procedures ensuring that they translate the knowledge gained into better patient care. This award from AGA is humbling and encourages me to take up more such educational and academic initiatives especially in developing and low-income countries,” Dr. Reddy said.
AGA, which publishes world’s highest rated digestive diseases journal ‘Gastroenterology’, will felicitate Dr. Reddy at the Digestive Disease Week conference at California in May.
