AIMIM gears up for Maharashtra municipal elections
AIMIM concludes its campaign for Maharashtra’s 29 municipal corporation elections. The party is contesting in 24 corporations, focusing on minority and backward-class strongholds. Buoyed by last year’s 81-seat local election victory, AIMIM hopes for a strong showing on January 15.

Hyderabad: With the campaigning for the elections to the 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra ending on Tuesday evening, the AIMIM leaders are hopeful of bagging many seats across the 24 corporations the party is contesting in the State.
The elections for the municipal corporations are scheduled to be held on January 15. The AIMIM had fielded its candidates across 24 corporations, while the party leadership had conducted an extensive campaign across the State. The parties took up a high voltage campaign in Aurangabad, Mumbai, Jalna, Latur, Nashik, Parbhani, Nanded, Vasai Virar, Mumbra, Dhule and Ahmednagar Municipal Corporations, where there is a sizeable population of minority communities and backward classes.
Senior leaders of the party, including AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM party floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, AIMIM Maharashtra president Imtiya Jaleel and other leaders, participated in the campaign spread over nearly three weeks.
The AIMIM party had won 81 seats in the local body elections held last year in Maharashtra and buoyed by the victory in local body elections, the party was expecting a huge victory in the municipal elections.
