Hyderabad: The top leadership of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is campaigning in Bihar against the RJD – Congress Mahagathbandhan. The party has fielded 25 candidates in the elections.
The AIMIM had earlier tried to strike an alliance with the Mahagathbandhan; however, when both parties rejected the proposal, it formed an alliance with two other regional parties and is contesting from 25 seats.
Top leaders of the AIMIM, including party president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Nampally MLA Majid Hussain Meraj, Bahadurpura MLA Mohd Mubeen, Yakutpura MLA Jaffer Hussain Meraj, and several corporators and local basthi leaders of the AIMIM, are campaigning in Bihar. The AIMIM leadership is targeting the Mahagathbandhan and the BJP party in its campaign. The party president had attended several public meetings across Bihar targeting the Mahagathbandhan alliance comprising the Congress and RJD parties and asked the people not to vote for them in the coming elections.
The Muslims in Bihar account for 16 percent of the total population in the State and the party is focusing more on constituencies where the Muslim population is high.
