Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) had submitted its objections to the preliminary ward delimitation notification issued by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and sought rectifications.

The GHMC six days ago had issued the preliminary notification pertaining to ward delimitation and invited claims and objections. The AIMIM, according to sources, took objection to the boundaries of certain wards in Chandrayangutta, Bahadurpura, Rajendranagar, Yakutpura and a few other constituencies.

The party wants the GHMC to ensure that ward boundaries do not overlap with the boundaries of the assembly constituencies, as it could lead to certain issues. The party had submitted its objections to the GHMC recently and was waiting for the final notification.

Meanwhile, the party cadres are excited with the announcement of new wards in the GHMC and have already started lobbying for the tickets. As a practice, the party leadership, before giving the tickets to any party worker, consults with the local MLA.

The AIMIM presently represents 42 wards in the GHMC. “After the final notification is issued, the leadership will discuss with the core body of the party and decide on the number of seats it is going to contest,” said party sources.

In all likelihood, the party will contest in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Chevella, and Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituencies.

The maximum number of candidates will be fielded from Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliamentary constituencies. Due to its continuous focus on Malkajgiri, Musheerabad, Sanathnagar, Jubilee Hills and Khairatabad assembly constituencies, the party hopes to win some seats here, if it seriously contests.
