Karimnagar: AISF activists attempted to storm the residence of Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar at Mankammathota here on Thursday, protesting against what they termed the State government’s indifferent approach to clearing pending fee reimbursement and scholarship dues.
A group of AISF students marched towards the Minister’s house, shouting slogans against the government and Ponnam Prabhakar, and tried to enter the premises. Police had already blocked access with barricades and foiled the attempt, preventing the protesters from entering and shifting them to the police station.
The agitating students said students were forced onto the streets and unable to attend classes due to college closures over the past few days, yet Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was not bothered about their plight.
They said Minister Prabhakar, despite coming from a student movement background and being aware of student issues, was remaining a spectator. They demanded that he take the initiative to persuade the Chief Minister to release the pending fee reimbursement funds.
