Hyderabad: Just days ahead of the release of the much-anticipated period drama “Gangubai Kathiawadi”, the makers have unveiled a character promo featuring Ajay Devgn, revealing his pivotal role as a mafia king. And, Ajay Devgn never fails to impress whenever he steps into the role of a don, looks phenomenal as Rahim Lala, who is shown as a man of principles.

In the promo featuring Alia Bhatt in the title role, the intensity that Ajay Devgn’s character Rahim Lala displays in dialogue delivery for this serious role is just brilliant. The actor in his role looks unmatchable, stands out with his acting in the highly impressive scenes, is just outstanding displaying intensity in his eyes and expressions.

The character promo opens with Gangubai approaching don Rahim Lala for help after she was beaten up by her tormentors. Then it is the spectacular entry of Ajay Devgn’s character. By thrashing her opponents at the red-light area Kamathipura, Rahim Lala announces he stands by her as a pillar of support. After Rahim Lala gets to know Gangubai fought for the rights of hundreds of women living in the area, he makes her his business partner, gives her the title ‘Mafia Queen’.

In the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, Alia Bhatt plays Gangubai, a woman who rose from being a sex-worker in Mumbai’s red-light area Kamathipura to reigning supreme as the most respected madam in the city in the 1960s.The period drama, produced by Bhansali and Jayantilal Gada’s Pen Studios, has been adapted from one of the chapters of author Hussain Zaidi’s book, ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’. The film will release in the theatres on February 25.
