Hyderabad: Amidst the Twitter war brewing between the Telugu film industry and AP State government over ticket price controversy, Akkineni Nagarjuna has said the prevailing situation of low-ticket prices in AP theatres will not affect his upcoming film ‘Bangarraju’.
The Telugu Star was visibly miffed by the question that came from the media and said in an impatient tone, “It’s not appropriate to discuss political issues in a cinema stage like this one. I won’t respond to it. There’s no problem for my film with the existing ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh. The collections at the box office might slightly dwindle, but that won’t affect the film on a whole,” he added.
Directed by Kalyan Krishna, the film has Krithi Shetty as the female lead and senior actor Ramya Krishna in a key role besides featuring father-son duo Nagarjuna and Naga Chaitanya.
Speaking on his romantic comedy ‘Bangarraju’ that is hitting the screens on January 14, ‘King’ Nagarjuna said the decision to release the film in the festive season was not hasty, rather it was well planned before the story went on to the sets. Since the shooting kicked off on August 20 last year, the team was uncertain about the film’s release this Sankranti, he added. Soon after the film’s technical team announced its completion of work, the makers decided to release ‘Bangarraju’ on the same date when ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’ was released (January 14), Nag said.
A fillip to Naga Chaitanya’s career
Nagarjuna said that the film ‘Bangarraju’ would give a fillip to his son Naga Chaitanya’s career. “This is a family entertainer, set in a village backdrop. So, we expect family audiences to come and enjoy the film in theatres. I got to do many films under this genre earlier in my career. Films like ‘President Gari Pellam’, ‘Janakiramudu’ and many other stories that came had a rural backdrop. Chay hasn’t done such films yet. We will be seen donning traditional Telugu ‘panche kattu’. It has a different charm and brings pride that one should enjoy wearing it,” he said.
