Hyderabad: Akshara Vaagdevi International School organised a special assembly to mark Ekta Diwas or Unity Day to mark the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The day was insightful with the various virtual celebrations lined up by Akshara Vagdevi International school in collaboration with Pallavi Model Schools by depicting the theme of secularism and national unity.
At a special morning assembly students of class IX started the prayer, pledge and the thought of the day in uniting various provinces of India under one flag. School faculty member Rajeswari detailed the introduction of the programme. Students from class I to IV shared their views through eloquent speeches, on the “Contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for safety and security of India”.
Various creative activities such as writing and poster making were conducted and a role-play performance by class V to VIII was appreciated as they paid homage to the national leader. Principal Vanaja introduced the chief guest Raveesh Chaudhary, Squadron Leader and a Navigator in the Flying Branch of Indian Air Force., an alumnus of the prestigious National Defense Academy.
The chief guest addressed the students as the future of the country and shared a story, “The farmer and his four sons” and encouraged the students to become the strength of the country by highlighting the life and contribution of Sardar Patel in the freedom movement and uniting India.
A collaborative pledge on Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was administered by chief guest Raveesh Chaudhary followed by the students. The principal encouraged the students to take an oath on Swatchatha., and the assembly ended with a vote of thanks by Padmaja, a faculty member.
