Hyderabad: The members of All India Dental Students and Surgeons Association (AIDSA) on Tuesday urged the Telangana State Dental Council to initiate action against dermatologist Dr Rajeetha Dharmashetty, who allegedly in an interview with a YouTube Channel said that Dentists were not Doctors.

“AIDSA strongly condemn the recent defamatory and derogatory remarks made by fitness instructor, Purnima and dermatologist Dr Rajeetha during an interview aired in a YouTube channel. In the said video, the individuals irresponsibly mocked the dental profession by calling the fake doctors and asserting that dentists are not doctors,” the AIDSA in a letter to TS Dental Council, said.

The AIDSA president, Dr Md Manzur said that a formal complaint against Dr Rajeetha will be lodged in a police station. “Such baseless and offensive statements not only mislead the general public but also seriously undermine the dignity, credibility and professional status of the dental community. These remarks amount to professional misconduct and are a direct insult to thousands of qualified dental practitioners across the country,” the AIDSA members said.

The AIDSA urged the Dental Council to take cognizance of the issue and initiated appropriate action against the concerned dermatologist and the platform involved, in accordance with the ethical and legal provisions.
