Hyderabad: All train services under South Central Railway (SCR) will be restored in a couple of months provided the Covid-19 pandemic situation gets normal. Currently, 85 services of passenger trains are being operated, SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya said.

Speaking to media on Wednesday, Mallya said the Union cabinet has approved the Productivity Linked Bonus equivalent to 78 days wages for the financial year 2020-21 for all eligible non-gazetted railway employees. Around 84,000 non-gazetted employees of the SCR would be given the bonus which amounts to approximately Rs.130 crore, he said.

The SCR general manager said 55 services of MMTS were being operated and additional services were being planned shortly. More MMTS services were being run during the peak hours. The SCR would soon add a stop at Malkajgiri railway station, he added.

Given the pandemic situation, he said necessary safety measures have been put in place in all the railway stations and trains including checking the temperature of the passengers. Also, the SCR has set up 18,000 bio-tiolets in the trains.

Stating that SCR was monitoring the waiting lists in view of Dasara festival, Mallya said depending on the rush, clone trains would be added to clear the rush.
