Hyderabad: The Allen World Junior 10K Run was held with great enthusiasm at the Gachibowli Stadium. Over two thousand students from more than 180 schools, including athletes from Hakimpet Sports School, participated in the run on Sunday morning.
The run, organized by SpotOn Sports, was flagged off by Asian Games bronze medalist Agasara Nandini. Before the run, she addressed the gathering, saying it was a great initiative by SpotOn Sports CEO Rohit Mishra to provide equal opportunities in sports by allowing government school students free entry along with private school students. She said the children’s enthusiasm reminded her of the early days of her career ten years ago. She praised parents for encouraging their children’s interest in sports and opined that the sports sector in the state and country will grow only when government and corporate companies identify and support talented athletes.
The run, which started at the stadium in Gachibowli, concluded back at the stadium after passing through TIMS Gate, Gopichand Academy, and ISB Circle. A total of Rs 3 lakh in prize money was won by 84 participants across the 1K, 3K, 5K, and 10K categories. Students from over 180 schools, including Hakimpet Sports School, Allen, DPS Kollur, Patancheru, Akshara International Schools, Birla Open Minds, and Miru, took part in the run.
