Hyderabad: Amazon on Sunday announced plans to expand its network of Ashray rest centres for delivery drivers to 250 facilities across India by the end of 2026. The move builds on the company’s existing network of 100 centres operating across 16 cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
As part of the expansion, Amazon said it will launch 50 new Ashray centres by the end of May. The facilities are open to all delivery drivers, including those not associated with Amazon’s logistics network.
The air-conditioned centres provide seating areas, drinking water, electrolytes, mobile charging points, clean washrooms, first-aid kits, and resting spaces, particularly aimed at helping delivery personnel cope with extreme summer conditions. According to the company, the existing Ashray centres have collectively recorded more than one million visits from delivery drivers in 2025.
Amazon India has also introduced mobile Ashray units in the form of air-conditioned vans stationed along high-traffic delivery routes. These mobile units offer amenities such as drinking water, electrolytes, Wi-Fi connectivity, charging points, and resting spaces to drivers without requiring them to travel to fixed centres.
Salim R. Memon, Director of Operations at Amazon India, said the initiative reflects the company’s focus on the health, safety, and well-being of delivery associates. He added that the expansion is part of Amazon’s broader investment of over ₹2,800 crore towards improving safety, health, and financial well-being measures across its operations network.
Amazon said it is partnering with organisations such as Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), Udyasa Foundation, and READ India to establish the new facilities.
