Bengaluru: Amazon India on Wednesday announced that it will invest over ₹2,800 crore (approximately $300 million) to enhance associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing, while strengthening its nationwide operations network.
The investment is part of Amazon’s broader plan to invest over $35 billion in India by 2030, focusing on business expansion and three strategic pillars: AI-driven digitisation, export growth, and job creation.
The company will expand both its core and quick commerce network to enable safer, faster, and more reliable deliveries across India within minutes, hours, and days.
This investment follows Amazon’s Rs 2,000 crore investment in 2025, which supported the launch of 17 new fulfilment centres, six sortation centres, and 75 last-mile delivery stations across India. In 2025, Amazon also launched its quick commerce service, Amazon Now, which has since expanded to over 300 micro-fulfilment centres across major cities.
“Since launching Amazon.in in 2013, we have built one of India’s safest, fastest, and most reliable operations networks,” said Abhinav Singh, VP – Operations, Amazon India and Australia. “This year, we are investing over Rs 2,800 crore to further strengthen associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing while expanding our delivery capabilities.”
Strengthening associate safety, health, and financial wellbeing
Amazon said the investment will expand healthcare and financial security initiatives for tens of thousands of associates and partners.
Key initiatives include scaling Project Ashray to provide rest facilities for delivery associates, expanding health programmes such as Sushruta for long-haul truck drivers and their families, and increasing access to preventive healthcare through nationwide medical camps.
The company will also enhance medical and accident insurance and expand financial inclusion under its Samriddhi programme by enabling enrolment in government schemes such as Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Amazon will continue supporting education for associates’ children through its Pratidhi scholarship and mentorship programme.
Expanding infrastructure and technology
Amazon will invest in expanding its fulfilment centres, sortation hubs, and delivery stations to improve delivery speed, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
The company also plans to more than double the footprint of its quick commerce service Amazon Now across existing and new cities.
Amazon said its facilities are designed to improve energy efficiency, safety, and accessibility, including cooling systems, rest areas, and disability-friendly infrastructure.
The company will also deploy artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to improve route planning, driver safety, workload distribution, and delivery efficiency.
