Amazon launches new Kindle Colorsoft models, including first color Kindle for kids

Amazon has launched a new 16 GB Kindle Colorsoft and its first color Kindle for kids, priced at $249.99 and $269.99 respectively. Both devices feature vibrant color displays, long battery life, and tools to enhance reading for all age groups.

Hyderabad: Amazon has expanded its Kindle Colorsoft lineup with two major additions—a new 16 GB model priced at $249.99 and the first-ever Kindle Colorsoft Kids edition priced at $269.99. Both models aim to enhance the reading experience by introducing color displays for e-books, comics, and graphic novels.

The new 16 GB Kindle Colorsoft retains key features such as a high-contrast Colorsoft display, fast page turns, adjustable warm light, weeks of battery life, and access to Amazon’s eBook store. Readers can now enjoy browsing colorful book covers, viewing images, and reading graphic novels in vivid detail. It also includes color-coded highlighting options and a Page Color feature that allows inverting page colors for easier reading.

Amazon has also launched the Kindle Colorsoft Kids, its first color Kindle for young readers. It comes with an illustrated cover, one year of Amazon Kids+, and a two-year worry-free guarantee. The device is designed to encourage more reading time with features like Vocabulary Builder, Word Wise, OpenDyslexic font, and Bluetooth support for audiobooks. Parents can monitor activity and set controls via the Amazon Parent Dashboard. Kids can choose from covers like Fantasy River or Starlight Reading.

Amazon said that kids reading graphic novels spent 46% more time reading compared to the average Kindle Kids reader in 2024. With this in mind, Amazon Kids+ will add new titles this summer, including Artemis Fowl, Big Nate, Percy Jackson, Storm Runner, and Aru Shah series.

The Kindle Colorsoft 16 GB model is now available for $249.99 with three months of Kindle Unlimited included, while the Signature Edition costs $279.99 and offers wireless charging, auto-adjusting light, and 32 GB storage. The Kindle Colorsoft Kids edition is priced at $269.99 and includes Amazon Kids+ for a year.
