Nagarkurnool: In a shocking incident, a tribal woman’s body was allegedly left on the roadside in a forest area by a ‘108’ ambulance despite her family’s repeated pleas to be dropped at their village.
The deceased, Gouramma, 29, a resident of Eerlapenta in Lingala mandal, had been unwell and undergoing treatment. Ten days ago, she was admitted to the Government Hospital in Achampet, but as her condition worsened, doctors advised shifting her to the Government General Hospital in Mahabubnagar.
However, Gouramma died on Thursday evening. Her family boarded a ‘108’ ambulance with the body, hoping to return to Eerlapenta. To their shock, the ambulance staff allegedly dropped them along with the body at Farhabad crossroads around 6 p.m., reports said.
Despite repeated pleas, the staff refused to take them to the village. With no transport facility available, Gouramma’s family was forced to spend the night on the roadside at Farhabad crossroads.
On Friday morning, when the family tried to contact ITDA officials, their calls reportedly went unanswered. After much delay, an autorickshaw driver finally came forward to help them reach Eerlapenta, sources said.
