Amid Danam setback, Revanth talks of ‘Vote ki Chori’, ‘Party ki Chori’

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's remarks in Kerala condemning "vote chori, party chori and symbol chori" have drawn criticism in Telangana, with detractors accusing him of ignoring his own support for party defections, particularly in the case of disqualified MLA Danam Nagender.

Hyderabad: It is indeed strange to hear a political leader being eloquent in publicly condemning the very acts, which he encouraged and supported vociferously.

Be ready to hear this. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was at his oratorial best when he was critical of “vote chori, party chori and symbol chori etc.,” in his speech delivered in Kerala on Friday. He seems to have suffered from selective amnesia about supporting party hoppers in his own state of Telangana.

More importantly, he seemed to have forgotten about the Supreme Court judgement endorsing the disqualification of Danam Nagender from the Telangana Assembly for joining the Congress after getting elected on a ticket issued by the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). Perhaps, he believes that no one in Kerala is aware of his support for the party hopper Danam Nagender.

Revanth Reddy was speaking after receiving the Aryadan Muhammed Award in Kerala and he stressed the need for Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to become the Prime Minister. Revanth Reddy was presented the Aryadan Muhammed-2026 Best Public Servant Award at a function in Nilambur.

“There is a need to save India from communal forces, from forces which were stealing everything. Vote ki chori, party ki chori, symbol ki chori, funds ki chori. They are stealing the future of youth. They are stealing the foundation of democracy and India – integrity of the vote,” Revanth Reddy said.

He said his only remaining dream was to make Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister of India. “Winds of change are blowing. Every part of India is listening to the goonj of Rahul Gandhi’s words of hope. Let us stand behind Rahul ji till we totally save India from communal forces,” Revanth Reddy appealed.

His speech elicited left many in Telangana incredulous, as Revanth Reddy himself has expressed support for turncoat Danam Nagender on many occasions and is likely to field the Nagender in the Khairatabad assembly constituency, which will have a bypoll shortly on account of his disqualification.
