Hyderabad: Amidst protests by farmers and residents of different villages under Kandukur mandal against a proposed pharma village, the Rangareddy Collector has issued a notification for acquisition of 567 acres in Thimmapur village of Kandukur mandal for establishment of an industrial park.
As per the notification, 566.39 acres of land in Thimmapur village of Kandukur mandal was required for establishment of the industrial park in favour of Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited.
However, farmers and landowners in Kandukur, Yacharam and neighbouring mandals are up in arms against establishment of a pharma village in their vicinity. They have been demanding the government to scrap the plans of establishing the pharma village and remove their patta lands from the prohibited category in the revenue records.
To this effect, farmers in Medipally, Tatiparthy, Kurmidda, Nanaknagar and neighbouring villages have been staging rallies and protests against the pharma village. A similar rally was conducted on Monday as well.
The farmers and local villagers have formed an umbrella organization “Pharma Vyatireka Porata Samithi” (Protest group against pharma village) to intensify their protests and create awareness among people on the adverse impact of establishing a pharma village in their vicinity.
Unmindful of these protests, the Rangareddy district Collector issued a notification for establishing an industrial park in Thimmapur under Kandukur mandal.
It may be recalled after tribal farmers in Lagacherla, Rotibhanda thanda and other villages put up a relentless fight against the proposed pharma village, the Vikarabad district administration had cancelled the notification for the land acquisition.
But within days, a fresh notification was issued for land acquisition in Polepally, Lagacherla and other villages for establishing a multipurpose industrial park.
