Andhra Pradesh: At least 8 passengers killed, as bus falls into gorge in ASR district

The horrible road accident led to killing of at least 8 passengers and severe injuries to many others leading to a possibility of more deaths.

Hyderabad: At least eight bus passengers were killed and several others were injured when a bus fell into a gorge on Chintur – Maredumilli road in ASR district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday morning, reports reaching her said.

According to local reports, the private bus owned by Vigneshwara travels (AP39UM6543) was on its way to Araku from Bhadrachalam in Telangana when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve and the vehicle fell into a gorge near Rajugari Mettu Malupu.


Reports said there were 37 passengers in the ill-fated bus and there was every possibility of the number of casualties increasing.

The bus passengers began their journey from Araku on December 6 on a pilgrimage. The bus passengers visited the Bhadrachalam temple and were on their way to Annavaram village.

Foggy conditions and overspeeding were believed to be the cause of the accident. Further details are awaited.
