Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh minister for Industries and Information Technology, Mekapati Goutham Reddy passed away here in the early hours of Monday. He was 50.
Gourtham Reddy, who represents Atmakur constituency of Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, suffered a stroke in the early hours and was rushed to Apollo Hospials here. He died while being treated. He is survived by his wife, son and a daughter.
Goutham Reddy had just returned from Dubai where he represented the Government of Andhra aPradesh in the Dubai Expo 2020. The minister’s visit generated a potential investment of Rs 10,350 crore for Andhra Pradesh.
He is a second time MLA from Atmakur and son of former MP Mekapati Rajmohan Reddy.
KTR condoles death
Goutham Reddy’s Telangana counterpart KT Rama Rao took to Twitter to express condolences.
KT Rama Rao tweeted saying, “Deeply saddened & shocked beyond belief to learn about the sudden demise of dear friend Mekapati Goutham Garu. My heartfelt condolences to the family & friends in this hour of grief. Gone too soon brother. Pray that you rest in peace.” (sic.)
