Vizianagaram: Municipal Administration minister Botsa Satyanarayana has alleged that the opposition parties were trying to mislead the people to take up cudgels against the government.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, he referred to the allegations levelled by the Telugu Desam Party and the pro-TDP media on power supply. “Power supply has some technical issues which caused interruption. But the TDP and the Chandrababu-friendly media is making a mountain of a molehill. Similarly, the garbage tax. Sanitation is taken up through the CLAP (clean Andhra Pradesh) programme and no charges are collected from the poor,” he explained.
On the housing programme, the minister clarified that the TIDCO houses were being handed over to the beneficiaries after rooting out the corruption indulged in by the TDP in the past. The Jagan government gave bigger houses than during the previous Congress party and TDP regimes, he stated and challenged TDP state president Atchan Naidu for a debate on the issue. “Did Chandrababu give at least one house under IDCO?”, he asked, adding that the construction of houses was done only for commission.
“Our government saved Rs.400 crore through reverse tendering in TIDCO. After construction of TIDCO houses, Chandrababu failed to provide even basic facilities like power, roads, water and toilets and so did not hand them over to beneficiaries. Now, the Jagan government is providing all facilities before giving them to the people,” he said.
