Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has postponed the Group – II mains examination slated to be held on February 23, following a request from the Andhra Pradesh government.
According to sources, the AP government wrote to the APPSC stating that some errors in the roster method were not yet corrected and the matter was also being heard in the High Court. The court is to hear the matter on March 11, according to reports.
Following the AP Government request the public service commission has announced the postponement of examination.
The Government, in its communication to the APPSC maintained that the writ petition in the AP High Court challenged the notification of service commission for direct recruitment to the posts of Group-II services. The petitioners contended that the notification was contrary to the Supreme Court judgement and raised objections over the roster slots of specialized categories.
The High Court had on February 20, 2024 asked government to file a counter. The government aid conduct of the examination before all aspects were examined would not be in the best interests of the candidates and hence it asked the PSC to reschedule the examination to a suitable date.
