Andhra Pradesh: VIMS converted into dedicated Covid hospital

The hospital already has 200 oxygen beds and 200 ICU beds while 200 more ICU beds are in the pipeline, according to VIMS Director Dr. Rambabu

Visakhapatnam: With the number of Covid cases in the city and north Andhra increasing alarmingly, the Visakhapatnam Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) in the city is made a dedicated COVID hospital to provide better care to the patients.

The hospital already has 200 oxygen beds and 200 ICU beds while 200 more ICU beds are in the pipeline, according to VIMS Director Dr. Rambabu. He said a team of senior doctors had been set up and now relatives of the patients could directly get information on the condition of the patients from the doctors.


At present there are 132 doctors, 212 nursing staff besides nearly 300 paramedical and sanitation staff in the hospital.
