Hyderabad: The integration of Artificial Intelligence-based models in medicine is on a highly accelerated path, which promises to transform healthcare landscape in Hyderabad and the rest of the country in the coming two-three years.
Patients in Hyderabad and other Indian metros already have the option of accessing AI-based apps/systems that will provide timely advice, direction and support during the entire course of treatment. In the last year or so, doctors in Hyderabad have started working with AI-based systems that provide them with assistance in their decision making, while they treat patients in outpatient and inpatient facilities.
The initial strides at utilising the ability of AI models to crunch vast amounts of data, recognise patterns, make predictions in diagnostics, treatment and patient care has already begun. All top corporate hospitals in Hyderabad now have clinicians working closely with AI-based tech companies, exploring the possibility of utilising machine learning systems in delivering healthcare services.
In the US, multiple research companies are in the process of getting FDA approvals for the launch of AI-based healthcare models and apps. “Just as GPS guides drivers with precise directions, AI-based systems are already guiding patients throughout their care journey. The AI-based models offer timely advice and direction ensuring patients are informed and supported at every step. This level of personalised care provides both comfort and confidence, significantly improving patient engagement and satisfaction,” says Dr Suman Katragadda, CEO of Heaps, a Hyderabad-based AI-health tech company which is implementing AI systems.
AI-powered healthcare predictive systems in the next three years are projected to make a major leap in cancer cure and robotic surgical procedures. The next three years in cancer-cure is expected to be exciting, as AI-incorporated medical devices would be able to guide surgeons to remove the precise amount of tumour or administer chemotherapy to patients for best results.
Due to its ability to crunch large data, the AI-systems can analyse patient health records to predict their risk score for chronic ailments of heart, kidney, etc. “By accurately identifying high-risk patients, we can ensure they receive the focused care and management. Conversely, for low-risk patients, there’s no need for them to occupy hospital resources unnecessarily,” says Dr Suman.
Based on reports and interest on AI from venture capitalists, due to the huge potential benefits, the AI integration into medical care has become a major priority for hospitals and AI-based tech developers.
