Hyderabad: The immigration authorities detained 20 women from East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh while they were attempting to travel to Muscat using forged visas at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) late on Wednesday.

The women were scheduled to board an Oman Air flight to Muscat when immigration officials detected discrepancies in their travel documents during verification. They were immediately stopped from boarding and taken into custody.

Airport authorities later handed over the women to the RGIA police for further action. During questioning, the women reportedly claimed they had been cheated by a travel agent, who allegedly provided them with fake visas while promising overseas employment.

Police are now trying to identify and trace the agent behind the suspected visa fraud. Officials are also verifying the role of any travel facilitators involved in arranging the documents.
