Sangareddy: Andole MLA Chanti Kranthi Kiran has demanded Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President A Revanth Reddy to convince Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as well as Punjab Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and MLAs to take the drug test before demanding IT Minister KT Rama Rao to undergo the drug test.
In a video released on Tuesday, the Andole MLA said the Congress-ruled Punjab and BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh were at the top in drug use according to National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), while Telangana stands at 18th place. Saying that over 86,000 drug cases were reported in Punjab according to NCRB, he said the drug supply would not be possible without the support of the Punjab Chief Minister, Ministers and MLAs.
Asking Revanth Reddy to convince all of them to take the drug test as part of his White Challenge, Kranthi Kiran demanded the former to convince Rahul Gandhi to take the test first. He recalled BJP senior leader Subramanya Swamy’s comments who alleged that Rahul Gandhi was addicted to drugs and was staying away from Parliament sessions to lead a luxurious life. “KT Rama Rao is ready to come for a test if Rahul Gandhi, who was allegedly addicted to drugs, and Punjab Congress leaders also accepts the challenge,” he said, adding that the TPCC president must take the White Challenge thrown by him to a logical end.
He lashed out at Telangana Congress leaders, who alleged that the drugs were in free supply in every bar, and pub in Telangana, for making baseless remarks on drug abuse in Telangana. Kranthi Kiran clarified that only 509 drug addiction cases were reported in Telangana according to NCRB against over 6,909 addiction cases reported in Punjab. He said Telangana had more population than Punjab State.
Saying that Revanth Reddy and his men were trying to malign the image of Telangana, the Andole MLA said the TPCC President’s baseless comments would discourage the investments in Telangana. Suggesting Revanth Reddy to come up with constructive criticism, he asked him not to make such baseless statements just for political gain. Worried over the increased drug cases across the nation, the Andole MLA, however, said that it is time for everyone to join hands to stop drug consumption.
