Annual crime report: Cheating cases in Telangana’s Khammam increase by 112.3%

According to the annual crime report for the year 2024, while the overall crime rate increased by 16 per cent, economic offences increased by 63 per cent

Annual crime report: Cheating cases in Telangana’s Khammam increase by 112.3%

Khammam: Cheating cases under the Khammam Police Commissionerate limits increased by a whopping 112.3 per cent in 2024. While the overall crime rate increased by 16 per cent, property-related offences increased by 50.2 per cent and economic offences by 63 per cent. This year, 8,873 FIRs were registered compared to 7,667 last year.

Speaking after releasing the annual crime report for the year 2024, Commissioner of Police Sunil Dutt informed that property offences detection percentage has been increased by 22.4 per cent due to the efforts of the clues team and with the usage of CCTV cameras.

According to the report, 727 economic offences were reported this year while in 2023, 446 cases were reported. In 2024, as many as 397 cheating cases were reported while in 2023, 187 cases were reported. There has been an increase in cybercrimes as 276 cases were reported this year as against 219 last year.

Meanwhile, crime against women increased by 10 per cent while atrocities against SC/STs jumped 14.63 per cent. Murders slightly decreased as compared with previous year with 26 murders reported as against 28 previous year.

Sexual jealousy cases, attempted murder and rioting cases decreased. Likewise, the number of robberies, house break-ins decreased due to vigilant and intensified patrolling besides checking strangers at night time using finger print devices.

Road accidents, missing cases, kidnapping cases increased in 2024. As many as 785 accidents took place this year as against 701 last year. Meanwhile, missing cases stand at 558 this year compared to 438 last year.
