Annual Jagannatha Ratha Yatra celebrated with devotion in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Devotees in large numbers turned up at Kokapet on Sunday to participate in the annual Jagannatha Ratha Yatra organised by the Hare Krishna Movement (HKM). The decorated chariot carrying the deities of Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra was pulled with enthusiasm by devotees amid sankirtans and the distribution of prasadam throughout the procession.
The Ratha Yatra commenced at Trilight, Golden Mile Layout Road, and proceeded through the streets of Kokapet, passing through Rajapushpa Atria and Golden Mile Road before culminating at the Hare Krishna Heritage Tower, Narsingi. Residents along the route offered coconuts, flowers, fruits and other sacred items as tokens of devotion.
More than 500 devotees pulled the chariot in unison, supported by volunteers and dedicated safety teams, HKM said in a press release. The programme concluded with kirtans and a special pravachan by Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa, president of HKM, Hyderabad, and regional president of The Akshaya Patra Foundation.
Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao of the Telangana High Court, Prakash Goud, MLA, Rajendra Nagar, Sudarshan Reddy, Advocate General, Mungi Jaipal Reddy, TPCC spokesperson, Rajendranagar, and others were present.
