Mumbai: As his film Tanvi The Great returns to theatres, veteran actor Anupam Kher says he strongly believes in the power of second chances in life and in cinema.
Anupam took to Instagram, where he shared a video speaking about the value of second chances.
“Namaste friends, what I want to share with you is that I believe in second chances a lot. In life, second chances are sometimes better than the first. Many people may not know that life gave me a second chance before I came into films,” he said.
Recalling a personal anecdote, Anupam revealed how he was once removed from Mahesh Bhatt’s Saaransh just 10 days before the shoot, with Sanjeev Kumar being cast in his place.
“I was fired from the film after rehearsing for six months. I fought with Mr. Mahesh Bhatt, cried a lot, and told him he couldn’t fire me from a film about truth,” he said.
Anupam eventually got the role and said that moment defined his journey. “Today, I have been working for 40 years, doing over 500 films. Now, I believe in second chances again as Tanvi The Great is being re-released,” he added.
The film, which premiered at Cannes and was screened in New York and for dignitaries in India, received praise but was initially overlooked by audiences. Anupam said it deserves another chance.
“This movie is about goodness, brotherhood, family, and empowerment. It features Shubhangi Dutt in one of the finest performances I’ve seen, along with Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swamy, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, and E N Glenn. It also has music by Oscar-winner M M Keeravani,” he said.
Tanvi The Great, co-starring Arvind Swamy, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, and Iain Glen, is set to re-release on September 26 in 17 cities. The film follows a 21-year-old autistic woman who dreams of saluting the flag at Siachen Glacier, inspired by her late father, Captain Samar Raina.
