Visakhapatnam: The new tourism policy aims to attract large scale investments in the tourism and encourage organisations in the sector, Minister for Tourism Avanti Srinivasa Rao has said.
Releasing the ‘Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2020-2025’ here on Saturday at a media conference, he pointed out that the state had plenty of natural resources with potential for temple tourism, eco tourism, river tourism, adventure tourism and recreation tourism.
Priority would be given to attract international tourists, he said efforts were on to set up five-star and seven star hotels, he revealed. Besides allotting land, other incentives would be offered by the government. Also, the lease period is increased from the existing 66 years to 99 years and the stamp duty reduced from two per cent to one per cent. The clearances would be given through special purpose vehicle in a transparent manner, without scope for corruption in 30 to 90 days, he added.
In an effort to put the tourism sector back on wheels, a restart package was being sanctioned with Rs.200 crore, the minister stated.
The government would meet 4.5 per cent of the bank loans taken by small hotels and restaurants so that tour operators, hotels and restaurant organisers would benefit from the package.
Tourism in the state would be developed through four circuits–Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra, North Andhra and Godavari circuit and in t he next couple of months, investor meets would be organised in the four regions and the idea was to generate at least one lakh jobs in the tourism sector, he explained.
