Hyderabad: Municipal Administration Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday demanded an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remarks on Telangana Statehood in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Participating in a meeting at Ibrahimpatnam after taking part in various development works, he said Modi spoke lies and was resorting to creating hatred instead of instilling confidence in Parliament, which is the temple of democracy.
Stating that Modi made the same remarks eight years ago which he repeated on Tuesday, Rama Rao said the Prime Minister was indulging in double talk. “Is Modi speaking right on the issue?” he asked.
“As a Prime Minister, how can Modi speak meaningless things? The Prime Minister’s remarks are nothing but belittling Telangana agitation and sacrifices made by Telangana martyrs in the State,” he said.
Stating that the Prime Minister delivered an unnecessary speech in Rajya Sabha, he said the Central government did not give a single paisa to Telangana in the last seven years. Modi came to Hyderabad and unveiled the Statue of Equality but did not give a single paisa for Telangana. He called upon the TRS activists to keep an eye on BJP since it was spewing venom.
Rama Rao said the BJP bore a grudge against Telangana and merged seven mandals from erstwhile Khammam district with Andhra Pradesh and gave Seleru power project to the residuary State.
