Hyderabad: Tech giant Apple kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on Monday, June 8, at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, unveiling major updates centred on artificial intelligence, child safety features and refinements to its software platforms. The five-day event will continue through June 12.
A key focus of this year’s conference was Apple Intelligence, the company’s AI platform, which is being integrated more deeply across Apple’s ecosystem. The company also introduced Siri AI, a revamped version of its virtual assistant designed to be more conversational, context-aware and capable of understanding user intent more effectively.
Apple announced that Siri AI will be available through a developer beta programme beginning this week. The company also expanded Visual Intelligence across its platforms and introduced new AI-powered tools aimed at improving productivity and creativity.
The Photos app is receiving new AI-powered editing capabilities, while Apple Intelligence is being integrated into several core applications, including Safari, Home and Shortcuts.
Apple also showcased updates to Safari, including AI-powered tab organisation and enhancements designed to improve browsing and productivity.
During the keynote, Apple demonstrated how Apple Intelligence can work within the Home app to help users quickly access relevant video clips from connected security cameras and manage smart home devices more efficiently.
Beyond artificial intelligence, Apple unveiled new Child Accounts and enhanced parental control features. The updates allow parents to manage app access, review requests from children and set additional safeguards for online activity. The company also introduced an ‘Ask to Browse’ feature that requires parental approval before children access new websites.
Apple further refined its Liquid Glass design language, first introduced last year. The latest update gives users greater control over interface transparency while improving the readability of text labels, menus and toolbars.
The company previewed major software releases across its product lineup, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and tvOS 27. Developer betas for the new operating systems were released following the keynote.
The WWDC 2026 keynote concluded with a recap of Apple’s latest software, design and AI announcements, setting the stage for developer testing and wider public releases later this year.
