Appoorwa, Shivadas win carrom singles titles at lic zonal trials

S Appoorwa and D N Shivadas emerged champions in the LIC South Central Zonal carrom selection trials in Rajamahendravaram, defeating P Nirmala and B Ajay Kumar respectively in straight-game finals

Hyderabad: D N Shivadas of Bengaluru and S Appoorwa of Hyderabad won the men’s and women’s singles titles respectively in the LIC South Central Zonal carrom and chess selection trials held at LIC Rajamahendravaram’s Surya Gardens Function Hall on Thursday.

In the men’s final, Shivadas defeated B Ajay Kumar 25-14, 25-23, while former world champion Appoorwa beat arch-rival and teammate P Nirmala 25-10, 19-15 in the women’s final.
