Armed gang opens fire, loots jewellery shop in Karimnagar
Five armed assailants carried out a daring daylight dacoity at a jewellery shop in Karimnagar, opening fire and injuring four security personnel. Police suspect an inter-State gang and are examining CCTV footage while probing possible local support.

Karimnagar: In a daring daylight dacoity, five armed persons opened fire and looted jewellery from PMJ jewellery shop at Jagitial road here on Sunday morning.
The dacoits fled with costly jewellery and the injured securitymen were rushed to hospital. Condition of one of them is stated to be critical.
According to local people, while the staff of the shop took out jewellery from lockera for display, five motorcycle borne burglars rushed to the shop on two motorcycles along with firearms and barged into it.
They opened fire at security personnel when the latter tried to prevent them. Later, they fled from the spot with costly jewellery.
Four security personnel sustained bullet injuries as the miscreants fired around 30 shots. The condition of one security person is said to be serious. Injured persons were shifted to hospital.
Police and with clues’ team rushed to the shop and began an investigation. They examined CCTV cameras fixed in the shop as well as surrounding areas.
Police, who are investigating the case from different angles, suspected that an interstate robbery gang might have been involved in the incident. It is also being investigated about the support of locals.
