Nalgonda: The district authorities have completed all the arrangements for immersion of Ganesh idols on Sunday at select places in Nalgonda district.

In all, 1,750 Ganesh idols were installed by devotees across the district and nearly one third of them have already been immersed in nearby water bodies.

The district police made elaborate security arrangements for the main Ganesh immersion procession (Ganesh Shoba Yatra) that would be taken up in Nalgonda, Miryalaguda, Devarakonda, Nakrekal, Chityal and other towns on Sunday. In addition to cranes and setting up flood lights, expert swimmers were deployed at 14th mile of NSP left canal near Haliya, Vallabharao Cheruvu at Nalgonda, NSP canal near Miryalaguda and Dindi project in the district. The police will also monitor the procession through 2,400 CCTV cameras set up across the district. Superintendent of Police A V Ranganath will supervise the situation from the Command and Control Room set up at the district police headquarters. Geo-tagging of Ganesh pandals would also help the police ensure smooth flow of Ganesh immersion procession.

Ranganath, speaking to media on Saturday, said that 1,500 police personnel including five Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 26 Circle Inspectors, five Reserve Inspectors and 75 Sub-Inspectors would be deployed in select places to ensure that Ganesh immersion procession is incident-free. In all, 150 police volunteers would also extend their services to support the police personnel. He also suggested the organizers of Ganesh pandals to engage the vehicles, which have good condition, for the purpose of the procession. He also asked the people not to bring the children to the places of Ganesh idols immersion keeping in view the safety.

He warned that stringent action would be taken against those who would violate rules during Ganesh idols immersion. The police were already kept in watch on rowdy-sheeters and persons who have criminal history. Liquor shops will be closed on Sunday and no permission has been given for DJs in the procession.

District Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil inspected the arrangements at Vallabharao cheruvu at Nalgonda for ganesh idols immersion.

At Suryapet, required arrangements were made at Saddala Cheruvu by the district authorities for immersion of Ganesh idols. The Superintendent of Police R Bhaskaran and Suryapet Municipal Chairperson Perumalla Annapurna inspected the arrangements.
