Arrangements in place to conduct polls to 10 municipalities, 1 corporation in Adilabad

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the conduct of polls to 11 urban civic bodies, including one corporation and 10 municipalities, in erstwhile Adilabad district on Wednesday. Around 6.7 lakh voters will decide the fate of 1,583 candidates contesting from 328 wards across Adilabad.

Adilabad: Elaborate arrangements are in place for smooth conduct of polls to eleven urban civic bodies including a corporation and 10 municipalities in erstwhile Adilabad district slated for Wednesday.

Officials said that 6.70 lakh electors would decide the fate of 1,583 candidates in the fray from 328 wards of 10 municipalities and a single corporation across Adilabad, Mancherial, Nirmal and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts. While 323 nominees have been fielded by BRS, 307 candidates belong to the Congress and 288 nominees are from BJP.

In Mancherial district, four municipalities namely Bellampalli, Chennur, Luxettipet and Kyathanpalli and a corporation, Mancherial, will go to polls. A total of 265 polling stations have been set up in the newly constituted Mancherial municipal corporation which has 60 divisions, while 68 stations have been arranged for conducting polls to 34 wards of Bellampalli civic body.

Thirty-six polling stations have been identified in Chennur municipality which comprises 18 wards, while 45 stations and 30 stations have been created in Kyathanaplli consisting 22 wards and 15-ward Luxettipet municipalities respectively.

Nearly 3,000 staffers have been deployed to organise the polls in the five civic bodies of the district. They have received polling material and have reached respective polling stations.

Similarly, 216 polling stations have been formed in Adilabad municipality which has 49 wards, while 85 stations and 28 stations have been created in Kagaznagar and Asifabad municipalities. As many as 1,298 personnel have been assigned to organise the polls in Adilabad district and over 400 staffers have been tasked with the polls in Kumram Bheem Asifabad district.

While 145 stations have been identified in Nirmal municipality which has 42 wards, Bhainsa and Khanapur municipalities accounted for 74 and 25 stations respectively. Web-casting would be held in critical and hyper sensitive polling stations. Voter-slips have been distributed to electors. Awareness has been created among the electors through various means to enhance polling percent.
