Hyderabad: With the Telangana Vidyuth Artisan Employees Joint Action Committee continuing its strike for the second day on Thursday, power disruptions have been reported in many places across the districts.
The artisans launched the strike on Wednesday, demanding regularisation of their services, salary hikes and other long-pending issues.
Under the Joint Action Committee aegis, the artisans are continuing their strike at GTS Colony near the TGGENCO office. Undeterred by the scorching heat, the workers, including women, held placards and raised slogans in support of their demands.
The artisans were staging a protest at the GENCO office in Pylon Colony near Nagarjunasagar. Similarly, protests are being staged in all districts by the artisans.
Due to the strike by artisans, complaints of power disruptions are being reported from several places. There have been reports of disruption in power production at the 500 MW KTPC thermal plant in Bhupalpally. However, officials are learnt to have said that the disruption was due to leakages in the boiler tube.
The TSPEA Joint Action Committee met Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday and discussed the artisans’ demands. The Southern Power Distribution Company Limited CMD had already issued instructions to officials to initiate action against erring workers, stating that strikes were prohibited.
Sticking to their stand, the artisans have made it clear that they would continue the strike till their demands are accepted by the government.
