As revenue department survey at Erravalli, farmers spends sleepless nights
A Revenue Department survey of 388 acres in Erravalli village has left more than 200 Dalit farmers worried about the ownership of land they have cultivated for decades, amid claims over 180 acres and the Chief Minister's Assembly statement
Siddipet: As the Revenue Department conducted a survey of 388 acres of land in Survey No. 325 at Erravalli village, the exercise became the talk of the village throughout the day. Since revenue officials were earmarking the boundaries of each individual’s land, with farmers in possession and holding documents, the farmers grew worried after reading into Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s statement in the Assembly that he would distribute the land to 800 farmers.
The only discussion among the landholders was what would happen if Revanth decided to take their lands back. The claims of Shivaru Venkatapur villagers, who said that 180 acres in the survey number fell under their village, further added to the confusion.
The farmers were worried as some Congress leaders were allegedly encouraging the Shivaru Venkatapur villagers to project it as an issue between the two villages. More than 200 Dalit farmers, who have been cultivating the land for more than 60 years, were spending sleepless nights.
