Asha Bhosle has many hits in her bucket but she says ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar Tera’ from Shammi Kapoor-Asha Parekh’s 1996 film ‘Teesri Manzil’ was the toughest song for her.
Recently, the legendary singer went down the memory lane to share funny trivia attached to the song while she took the opportunity to sing on the reality show ‘Indian Idol 12’.
“This song – ‘Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyar Tera’ – was very difficult for me to sing. RD Burman ‘saab’ came home one day, took the ‘baaja’ and sat down requesting me to sing the song. When I heard him play the part ‘O aa jaa, ahh ahh aaja’, I was a little taken aback as I didn’t think I would be able to do it. However, I told Burman ‘saab’ that I would try to sing the song after four to five days,” Asha Bhosle revealed in the show.
Sharing a funny incident, Asha recalled how her driver got worried and thought she was gasping for breath when she practised the song’s main tune in her car.
“I started practising the main tune in my car so much that one day, my driver got worried. As we reached Haji Ali, which is where I stay, my driver suddenly asked me if I wanted to visit the hospital as he thought I was gasping for breath. It was a very funny moment for me,” she shared in the show.
The legendary singer also recalled her advice from her sister Lata Mangeshkar when she was nervous about singing the song. “Do not forget that you are a Mangeshkar first and only then a Bhosle. Go sing the song, you will do good,” Asha recalls her sister Lata Mangeshkar’s advice.
The song ‘Aaja Aaja Mai Hoon Pyar Tera’ is still remembered as a very popular song and was sung by Mohammoad Rafi and Asha Bhosle.
