Asha workers hold dharna in Hyderabad over fixed wages, benefits
Thousands of ASHA workers staged a dharna in Hyderabad, demanding fixed wages, PF, ESI, job security, and paid leave, accusing the state government of failing to deliver on election promises.
Hyderabad: For the past year or so, government healthcare workers from different cadres and even private hospitals that cater to Aarogyasri health insurance patients, have taken to the path of protests to make the government consider their demands.
In fact, thousands of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers from across the state participated in a massive dharna in the city on Monday.
The ASHA workers protested the state government failure to fulfill its pre-election promises on implementing a fixed wage along with other benefits like PF and ESI. The protestors also highlighted excessive workload with unrealistic targets, delay in pending payments, job security, retirement benefits and paid leaves on Sunday and national holidays.
