Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Maoist party’s leader Gaddam Madhukar, who was arrested in Warangal on June 2, died while undergoing treatment in Hyderabad on Sunday. His body was shifted to his native place Kondapalli village in Penchikalpet mandal.
Sources said that 38-year-old Madhukar suffered a cardiac stroke and was admitted to Osmania General Hospital on Friday. He died while undergoing treatment at around 3 am. Warangal Central Prison officials informed Madhukar’s family members about the death. The body was brought to Kondapalli in the evening.
Madhukar quit studies when he was attracted to the then People’s War Group ideology when he was barely 18. He joined the outfit in 1999 and served in different positions. He rose to be secretary of Dandakaranya Special Zone Divisional Committee. His family members, however, had appealed to him to surrender before police and take care of them for quite a long time.
The kin of Madhukar, however, hoped to be reunited with him sooner or later as he was sent to judicial custody. They were waiting for him to come for 22 years. They could not meet him either in jail or hospital. With the help of donations from a local public representative, they managed to rush to Hyderabad on learning that his medical condition had deteriorated. They were shocked to learn about the death of Madhukar.
“We were asked to stay in a lodge near Osmania Hospital. We were told by authorities of Warangal Central Prison that Madhukar died at 3 am. We are devastated. All that we wanted was to see see him alive once. We thought we could meet him and show him that we were living for him,” Raju, his younger brother, told ‘Telangana Today.’
