Asifabad: Award winning Dokhra artisan passes away

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Shilp Guru Award winner Kova Naneshwar, a veteran Dokhra artisan belonging to Ojha tribal community died of brain haemorrhage while undergoing treatment at a primary health centre in Kerameri mandal on Wednesday. He was 60. He is survived by wife and five children.
Hailing from remote Keslaguda village in Kerameri, Naneshwar was presented the prestigious Shilp Guru award by the Union government for his mastery over the craft in 2013. He was the only tribal artisan from Telangana to have won the prestigious award. He had ventured into the art of moulding bronze artifacts during his childhood.
Naneshwar was given the national meritorious award in 2005. He showcased his works in national exhibitions organised in Delhi, Mysore, Chennai and many other towns across the country. He played a vital role in setting up a handicraft development agency in Ushegoan of the district. He taught this skill to his sons, Bhumeshwar, Ramchander and Kasehswar.
