Farmers and women block the traffic on a road at Jainoor mandal centre on Tuesday
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Farmers, including women, blocked traffic on the Asifabad–Utnoor road at Jainoor mandal centre on Tuesday, protesting the non-availability of urea despite waiting in queues for several hours.
The agitators said they were unable to purchase the fertiliser even after it had been dispatched to authorised outlets in mandal centres. They expressed anger over the disruption in supply, accusing the State government of failing to address the issue and causing severe inconvenience during the peak agricultural season.
Urea, a critical input for paddy cultivation, has reportedly been in short supply in the region, with farmers struggling to protect their saplings due to the delay. Protesters demanded immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted availability of the fertiliser.
The protest was called off after police urged the farmers to approach the officials concerned with their grievances. The road blockade led to a temporary halt in traffic movement.
