Asifabad food poisioning: MLA Kova Lakshmi visits Ashram school in Wankidi
Kova Lakshmi expressed concern over instances of food poisoning at regular instances. She instructed officials to take steps to provide quality food cooked in hygienic conditions and education.

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Asifabad MLA Kova Lakshmi visited the Ashram school run by the Tribal Welfare department in Wankidi mandal centre following hospitalization of 60 students due to food poisoning and water contamination on Monday.
Lakshmi expressed concern over instances of food poisoning at regular instances. She instructed officials to take steps to provide quality food cooked in hygienic conditions and education. She asked them to improve administration of the hostel by stepping up monitoring by higher officials. She also interacted with the students.
Meanwhile, ITDA project officer Khusbu Gupta also visited the school. She directed the officials to offer food as per the menu fixed by the government and ordered them to clean the kitchen, storeroom, and drinking water sources every day. She said efforts were being made to extend better medical services to those students who fell ill after dinner at the hostel on Wednesday.
While one student, Shailaja, was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Mancherial, Kudimetha Jyothi and Maha Lakshmi were shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad. One student Bhumika was admitted to a hospital in Asifabad and another student Lavanya was being treated at a hospital in Kaghaznagar.
On the other hand, student unions and Adivasi organisations expressed anger against the officials for neglecting the management of the hostel. They wanted stern action against the warden of the hostel. Around 100 students are currently staying in the hostel as against the total strength of 591. The remaining students left the hostel following the incident.
