Asifabad police burn 414 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.70 crore
The Kumram Bheem Asifabad police destroyed 414 kg of ganja worth Rs 1.70 crore that had been seized in 110 cases over the last two years. SP Nitika Pant warned of strict action against those involved in ganja cultivation and smuggling.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: The district police disposed of 414 kg of ganja seized over the last two years. The value of the ganja was assessed at Rs 1.70 crore.
SP Nitika Pant, in a press statement, said that the ganja recovered in 57 cases registered in 2025 and 53 cases in 2024 was burnt as per norms. While 296.31 kg of ganja and 964 plants were seized in 2025, 117 kg of ganja and 1,039 plants were recovered in 2024. The contraband was incinerated in accordance with the provisions of the NDPS Act and the Prevention and Control of Pollution Act.
Pant warned that stern action would be taken against those who cultivate, smuggle and peddle ganja. Intensive inspections were being conducted to control the menace. Additional SP Chittaranjan, Asifabad DSP Ashok, Inspectors Ravinder, Balajivaraprasad, Srinivas Gopal and other police officials were present.
