Kumram Bheem Asifabad: An undertrial prisoner Kumram Rajesh (38), who escaped from special sub-jail, while he was engaged in removing weed on the premises of the prison here on Monday morning, was nabbed by the evening.
Superintendent of the jail J Prem Kumar said that Rajesh was housed in the jail on the charges of involving in a gangrape reported in Mengubai Guda, a hamlet under Raitasankepalli village in Asifabad mandal, on January 24.
The prisoner managed to get away when the inmates of the jail were let out for clearing waste plants grown on the premises of the prison at 6.30 am.
Two guards who were posted during the activity could not catch him even as they chased him for two kilometres. However, four teams were formed and nabbed him when he was heading to his native place at around 8 pm.
